# Complicated countif forumla

Complicated COUNTA formula.

This formula works:  ="Remaining: "&SUM((COUNTIF(AB5:AB5557,"<>"&""))-COUNTA(C5:C5558)-COUNTA(F5:F5558))

This formula works:  ="Number of Duplicates: "&(COUNTIF(A5:A5558,"Duplicate"))

This formula works:  ="Critical/Duplicates: "&(COUNTIFS(A5:A5556,"Critical/Dup"))

I need to combine the three to look something like the following:

="Remaining: "&SUM((COUNTIF(AB5:AB5557,"<>"&""))-COUNTA(C5:C5558)-COUNTA(F5:F5558))  -  (COUNTIF(A5:A5558,"Duplicate"))  -  (COUNTIFS(A5:A5556,"Critical/Dup"))

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

The desired formula you showed should work fine, what seems to be the problem?

``````="Remaining: "&SUM((COUNTIF(AB5:AB5557,"<>"&""))-COUNTA(C5:C5558)-COUNTA(F5:F5558))  -  (COUNTIF(A5:A5558,"Duplicate"))  -  (COUNTIFS(A5:A5556,"Critical/Dup"))
Is this giving you the results you are after, it doesn't make complete sense to me but I'm not sure what you want the count of with it?
``````COUNTIF(AB5:AB5557,"<>"&"")

Hi Sue,

You may try something like below:
``````="Remaining: "&SUM((COUNTIF(AB5:AB5558,"<>"&""))-COUNTA(C5:C5558)-COUNTA(F5:F5558))-COUNTIF(A5:A5558,"*Dup*")
``````

Also I the field was formatted as 'Text' so I had to reformat it and then F2 it before it would work. Thank everyone for the help.
