Windows 10 won't start after update

My Windows 10 PC won't start up again after an update. The dots circle at the Windows logo and won't go further. I can't start it in safe mode as it hangs on the Windows logo.

Automatic Repair says: "Automatic repair couldn't repair your PC.
Press "Advanced options" to try other options to repair your PC or "Shut down" to turn off your PC.
Log file:
C:\WINDOWS\System32\Logfiles\Srt\SrtTrail.txt

The log file contains error code = 0x32 in the section "Disk metadata test".

I have tried many of the things the forums suggest for other people with the same issue with no luck. I have attached some photos of the outcomes.

Additionally I have tried system restores prior to the Windows Update which have not helped.

Does anyone have any more ideas?

No photos attached.
For the very few times I have seen that, the only solution is to reinstall Windows.

Can you remove the hard drive, put it in a carrier and recover your data?

If SSD, can you boot from a bootable USB key and recover your data that way.

Then reinstall Windows

I can reinstall Windows but was hoping to not need to. It might be the only option.
I have not seen Window 10 recover from this error so I think that is your only option.
you can try the install option "keep your files"
Boot a setup disk, press shift F10 to bring up a command prompt, while you see the language selection screen. There, launch the command
dir c:\
and see if c: as seen by setup is really your c: drive. If it is, launch
chkdsk c: /r
Afterwards, reboot.

Thanks - I was following instructions on another forum but they didn't say what to do if that issue with chkdsk happened. I didn't want to do anything permanent I couldn't undo. I will rerun and post results.

I have already confirmed that C: is my setup drive - it is (I didn't keep the photo of that one).
Also look at this article and review the thoughts here.  One thought in this article is the need basically to reinstall.

the day before yesterday i also had an update on my system, and today it locked up at the bios; luckily a restart got it working again
I ran chkdsk /r - results are in the attachment.

I then tried to reinstall Windows while keeping my files but got the attached error message.

I changed the same of system and software but the same issue kept happening.

At the Command Prompt, go to the \windows\system32\config folder by typing the following command: cd %windir%\system32\config.
Rename the System and Software registry hives to System.001 and Software.001 by using the following commands:
ren system system.001
ren software software.001

Given I have already taken a copy of my files to an external drive (using cmd) I am now doing a full Windows install.

A frustrating few days really.

I am now getting the same error message trying to do a full install (I got to 20% on the "Resetting your PC" page). If anyone could help with this it would be much appreciated.
Download the ISO from the Media Creation Link (Microsoft) , make a bootable USB key and do a fresh install from that
hah - the blessings of windows 10
i suppose you tried these also ?
Open cmd.exe with Run as Administrator.
 DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-Image /Scanhealth (takes 15 - 20 minutes).
 DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-Image /Restorehealth (takes 15 - 20 minutes).
"I am now getting the same error message trying to do a full install" - and how was that "full" installation started?
I'd backup the data and format the partitions and install from a bootable USB.
If that does not work (I suspect it will), that would indicate a hardware problem (RAM/HDD probably).
