EPSON Expression 1680 scanner won't power on

I have an EPSON Expression 1680 scanner that won't power on.

I have replaced the power cord with several known good power cords and have plugged this scanner into different power plugs but it still won't power on.

What can I do to troubleshoot or fix this issue?

Does this scanner have a fuse or similar item that can be replaced that might fix this issue?

Attached is the manual for this scanner.

If no lights power on then chances are the power supply is bad especially if it's an old PS.  Try swapping the PS if you have one with similar specification and plug.  That's the first thing I would check.

If still nothing and the PS is good then next suspicion is faulty On/Off switch or main board.

No fuse to check in the scanner.

The only other thing is (from the manual) if you are using the transparency unit or document feeder (I doubt it is the screw or a paper issue):

If not this, I would lean toward Wayne88's solution.

Since you bought a new power cord and it still doesn't work then it seems more likely to me that there is a problem with the scanner.  It should be cheaper to buy a new all-in-one printer.

what exactly happens when you power it on?
any lights - sounds, or movements? odours? vibrations?

ASKER
When we press the power button there are no lights, sounds, movements, odors, or vibrations of any kind.

Have you tried swapping the power supply?  It's most likely the power supply or the mainboard that's the problem.

you are sure the power reaches the scanner?  did you test with anothe rpower cord, and on a known working outlet?

Yes, I have already tried several known good working power cords that work perfectly fine on anything else that their plugged into and have tried several known good power plugs that work fine whenever anything else is plugged into them.

I am unsure why you kept saying that you have tried changing the power cords.  It is almost NEVER the power cord that's faulty in cases like this.

I have already looked online and haven't been able to find a replacement power supply. Do you know of where I can buy a replacement power supply from?
Wayne88

Can you take a picture of your power supply (the part number should be stated on the label and you can query by part number).

Also have a look at ebay: https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p2053587.m570.l1313.TR0.TRC0.H0.XEPSON+Expression+1680+power+supply.TRS0&_nkw=EPSON+Expression+1680+power+supply&_sacat=0

Other option would be to purchase another scanner for parts but with that kind of investment, I would just purchase a new one.
