Zimbra, hMailserver, Mdaemon is paid but good one, for windows and there are plenty, but one thing you need to keep in mind, opensource is good but only when you do not have proper support you will feel back bitten. Open source is great if you can solve the issue yourself to support and willing to take the stress. Think about cloud based like office 365, godaddy mail hosting, inmotionhosting, i have good experience with inmotionhosting.com. They provide Cpanel and very good one.

I need the good freeware Application to install on Win 2008/2012 server, for sending out Emails. Which is the good option?

Is it only for sending mail outside, then you can install IIS with SMTP for sending mail out.

Zimbra or hmail server for windows are good, but i think you need to pay for support.
Zimbra and Hmail server are opensource and freeware too.

Hmailserver in my experience is a very simple and robust application...it needs a small initial configuration and afterwards it just works..

Would Zimbra be good to choose?

Commented:
@Chen probably Ganesh can answer that better...i have never dealt with Zimbra...hmailserver on the other hand is pretty simple...just download it..install it and read the manual...

Ganesh,

How do you feel to Zimbra? Have you ever work with it?

Commented:
I use Zimbra for  ALL my customers and feel its the best open source email platform, but since you are on windows, unless you want to run a virtual machine, it will not meet your needs

Do you think Zimbra would not perform well on Windows 2008 R2 server?
Commented:
you can not install Zimbra directly on windows server. It is a linux only mail server. You could install virtaulbox then install ubuntu or centos to get zimbra running, but It might not be worth the effort since you have a viable alternative in hmail that can be installed directly on the Windows server
