Some of our servers are restarting automatically after installing updates so is there a way to prevent this so servers wont restart during the day when users are on them?

You can set a group policy for those servers.  If they are all in the same OU even better,

Computer Configuration->Administrative Templates->Windows Components->Windows Update-> Select No auto-restart for scheduled Automatic Update installation

That sounds good since the temporary solution was to stop the windows update service which supposedly will keep the server from turning off but not sure if that would work anyway.  Yours is a good solution.  Will try it now, thanks

Even with setting the GPO please ensure that you do restart your servers when you have an open window.
