Problem with Internet Connection Speed

I recently started noticing that my fairly new desktop computer seemed to be running slowly online.   The speedtest showed a download speed of 23 MPS (much slower than the 100 MPS i pay for with my service provider.  i tested the same location in the house at the same time with my laptop (also a wireless connection) and got a reading of 93 MPS.  So it's something with the computer.  What can I do to speed up the computer's internet connection or clean up whatever's causing the problem?

Get the newest Network card driver and then uninstall the current network driver, restart and install the new driver

Test your new computer connected to your router by wire first. When the speed is okay, then you need to look at your WiFi hardware of the computer and its setup. Does it support such high speeds? Also check the antenna.

Connect the cable you use on your Desktop on your Laptop and test again...try to put the laptop at (as much as you can) at the same position as your desktop...
If you get same slow speeds then either your cable got bad or you have some interference that affects your network..
If you get good speeds....i am afraid the definite solution would be to use another disk ...format it  to your OS and check again...if this is too much trouble try a Live CD Linux distro to get some "clean" readings.

FYI to everyone, this is a problem that just recently arose.

John,  How do I uninstall a network driver and find/install a new one?

Ste5an, I can try connecting to the router with a cable, but right now I'm comparing apples to apples with both computers connected via the same wi-fi connection.  It's not an antenna problem, since a week ago it was just fine (and nothing changed).  Where do I go to check on the setup of the computer's wi-fi - and is that something that can change suddenly on its own?

John Tsioumpris,  At the moment both computers are connected via wi-fi.  Can an interference affect one computer and not the other?

For the LAN driver, go the computer manufacturer's support website and look for Network Drivers. It should be there.

If you are using Wireless and it came with the computer, same process as above.

If the Wireless is USB, go to that manufacturer's support website and get that driver.

Make sure you have the drivers and know where you put them.

Go to Device Manager and uninstall the applicable driver. Restart and install the downloaded driver.

Can an interference affect one computer and not the other?  <-- It is possible but not likely.
