Need American Power Conversion Alternative

APC has been living off its name way too long. Their PowerChute software has never allowed email notifications on any other port except 25 unless you want to use the agent. So what is the point of the GUI? Now they have completely done away with the GUI. Just one miss-step after another for years.

I want to try someone else. Just a simple standalone battery backup for a Windows Server. Simple software that will shut the server down in the event of a power outage and send notifications on various ports with various security. You know... what PowerChute won't do :)

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

I have used APC, Cyberpower, and Eaton.   Between the two Cyberpower is a better alternative because Eaton is highly overpriced (more so than APC).

Go with a Cyberpower model that has replaceable batteries (no green UPS).  More often than not UPS failed because the battery deteriorated.  Instead of buying new, you can just replace the batteries in the future.  Cost much less.  Their PowerPanel software will do what you want as well.
