Firewall or bad db password.

The first problem is that you put the server address in the space for the name of the database.  It goes in the box above it.

Commented:
Server name is in the right box but problem could be it's prepended to the db name.

can the mail server resolve the name of the DB server (ping FJ-OUNLGS4DR is successful)?  Try entering the server's IP address there (or 127.0.0.1 if the SQL server instance is in the same server as hMail)

In the server address, put hostname\dbname.

If you mean how do you send via hMailServer, just use any email client you prefer.  You can configure POP or IMAP via hMailServer for receiving email and SMTP for sending.
