How to set the retention value to media pool for tape backup in Veeam?

This is using Veeam backup and replication 9.5. We are using a standalone lto6 single tape drive. There are altogether 10 tapes for 2 rounds of full backups from Monday to Friday. Since the contents for each day backup is quite small (around 100 GB), I am thinking of keeping 10 weeks' worth of backups for each tape, so, I set the retention to 10 weeks for this media pool. However, no matter how I twist and turn the settings on both media pool (borneo) and backup to tape job 2, I still can't get the subsequent backup contents append. Please see the attached document for the settings of media pool and backup to tape job.

Please enlighten so as I can store 10 weeks' of backup contents per tape or so. Thanks in advance.

I'm thinking it is because of the create new media set for each backup session

Hi David,

At the end, I still kept "create new media set for every backup session", but, change to use "do not protect data (cyclically overwrite tapes as required).

I have 2 sets of tapes for Mon - Fri backup. That means I can have a backup data of up to 2 weeks.

Thanks for Expert David in pointing to the retention-related setting. By doing so, tape backup is working
