Here's a script file that will reset all writers.<br />
rename the extension as a .bat<br />
run from an elevated command prompt.<br />
After running it you should reboot.<br />

Thanks I have ran that script and we are still getting the Issues where VSS is stopping the Backup.<br />
Microsoft wont support the system as its SBS2011 and no longer supported

Thanks for Answer. We had Microsoft In on an Support call. They could not resolve the Issue so we have removed the server and replaced the Domain

I have a Small Business Server 2011 standard that is running ShadowProtect SPX for its backups. We are now not getting backups using any backups software (ShadowProtect or Windows backup) and its looking like its due to VSS writers being in a failed state. We have tried to restart the service associated with each writer, but there are obviously some writers that we are unable to restart like this and would have to restart the server itself. <br />

My question is how can we troubleshoot and hopefully resolve this problem with VSS?<br />

VSS Issues on SBS Server

Software is any set of instructions that directs a computer to perform specific tasks or operations.
