Group Policy Issue

Hello Everyone,

I am trying to set up all users to get the default desktop icons (my computer, Recycle bin, Control panel, Network, and username folder)
Ive set all of them up in the group policy management editor however the only one im having issues with is the (username folder) i have tried setting multiple options and i keep getting either (computer name) or i will get (C). Is there anyway to have that reflect the username for who ever logs in?

Common desktop dir is exactly that. It'll add an icon that is common across ALL desktops.  You probably don't want to be using that path. You'll get strange results.
You're also setting it under "computer settings" which are processed when a computer boots up. Not when a user logs in. As such, the "user" running that policy is, in fact, -the computer account.

i thought it was strange running under the computer configuration but that's what i found on multiple google searches. im open to suggestions if  you have a better way to add common icons to all users when they login?

A better solution for what you are trying to do - Roaming user profiles.

You may need to do some homework before you can deploy roaming user profiles.
