Windows socket errors and event logs

I have a user that reported an issue with his PC today, he said a winsock error message appeared on his screen and then he couldn't access any network resources or the internet. We solved his issue with a restart of the computer, my question is this, can I review the computers event log for information on these errors when the occur? I didn't see his screen so I don't know if an error message number or ID was displayed, therefore I am not confident that his issue has been permanently solved.

I'd probably do a cold shutdown and startup of the computer over the next several days to see if the issue is resolved. You can look at the event logs, but I've learned over time, they really don't relay as much information as you would like.

If the error occurs again, I always inform my uses to stop and don't touch the computer and notify us immediately so we can take appropriate action.
