I have a small bit of exposure to MongoDB and  Active Directory as well. But is there so synergy of using them together?

Well you would use Active Directory as an authentication mechanism to secure your MongoDB.

What are you trying to achieve exactly?
What sort of synergy are you looking for?

Active Directory has no use for MongoDB, MongoDB would be a subscriber of AD services if anything. For example, see here for securing your MongoDB with AD for authentication.

So, by using AD for MongoDB, what else do this tell you about platform?

Does this suggest the site is running on Windows Server? Or on an internal network?
