we have direct printing with two application servers running IIS connecting to  SQL DB . we have upgraded two application servers  3 months back and one application is not responding for direct printing .
our application vendor is asking us to check with the network team to resolve the issue  . but it seems to be nothing wrong with the network level .

Q1  - How can I confirm the network level issue is  clear - Eg by ping the client to server or  ?
Q2 -  Patch level , there are some changes in the patch level  , but our vendor has confirm before the patch upgrade ,there is nor issue with the latest patch update .

Our Printing is configured as below
Client end  - connecting the receipt printer to client PC  - Host name  - C1
Application server side  -   Direct printer is mapping    billingPrinterC1 and billingPrinter is the  prefix for the printer profile name for billing Dep.

billingPrinterC1   IPaddress

how can I rectify the direct printing issue on the not responding server .  Direct printing still using for big applications ? we are having so much of issues with this architecture . please comment on this
I will share some testing result later

the simplest and easiest way to see if the issue is actually the printer is to print to it using something like notepad or word from the server  on which the application resides and another device. if it works then it not a network or a server issue but the application itself.

we have done few test to identify the issue. Finally they accepted application level issue  .
for you information , we have run the vb script and supplier provided DLL program to find the issue on the Host name turn issue . one of the working application has return the after sending IP to Host . other application not return some of the host computers hoast name after sending Ip address . when I check the ip to host name resolving PCs has reverse lookup entry due to default subnet . then I have created for the other subnets in the DNS . now ip to host name is resolving but no printing  from the server side .

Do we really need the reverse lookup  ? even  printer that  working doesn't have reverse look up  , that is why still I cant get the right logic
