server 2011 SBS Reports

I have a server that was doing 2 report summaries a day from the sbs console and they quit working. my memory useage from SQL was also way up all the time and the server was slow.

I ran the sbs report database fix which is supposed to make a new database for the reporting and now I cannot make a new report. it just errors saying that the report can't be saved.

I rebooted and tried again and it still won't allow me to make a enough report. I'm assuming it's a SQL problem but I'm not sure. any suggestions?

Which fix did you run to recreate the monitoring database?

Did the fix complete without error?

Have you given the Server 48-72 hours to rebuild the database?

C:windowstempCreate-SBSMonitoringDb.ps1 is what i ran from this site: https://blogs.technet.microsoft.com/sbs/2011/08/22/how-to-recreate-the-sbsmonitoring-database/

i dont think i got an error. i can run again and see if i get an error. i added in the force stop of the two services that they say can cause issues in the process.

Before you replace the database you are supposed to stop SQL Server (SBSMONITORING) service and Windows SBS Manager service then restart them after you replaced the database.  Did you restart these two services?
Wayne88, the script used by tjwo94 does that for you.

Tjwo94, did you run the powershell script from the movedatapowershellhost.exe as soon mentioned in step 1?  Just checking :)

After recreating did you also stamp in your alert settings and reporting email address again?

I did in fact run from that folder.

When I went to recreate my alerts it would not allow me. I feel as if the database is not connected. The service appears to be running for sbsmonitoring

So after running that command again, my problem is fixed. I did edit the script last time to force stop the two services just in case that was a problem. Something I did not know or something that helped me this time is adding the "./" before the name of the script. without that i could not get it to recognize the script. this is something i have never had to do before to run something in a CMD Prompt or PS. thanks for all the help.

My Server was running slow and one day the server reports function died. the reports were still in the list but would not send. I ran the rebuild database fix as listed in this article and it went through the first time but it was not fixed. i rebooted and ran again a while later with no hope of it working but the second run did in fact fix the sbsmonitoring reports. i did not have to reboot after running the fix which is nice. I think SBS was a cool idea but its so bloated and breaks easy. Im glad it is no longer!
Awesome news 😊!  I'm glad it worked out OK in the end.  I can't stand it if one of my servers isn't producing the report.

You will also need to reset any customisations you may have made to the reports and notifications such as email alert / report recipients.

SBS is ornery to say the least, breaking so many best practices to give SMBs a single-server solution.

With better connectivity, Cloud computing and Hyper-V, luckily SBS can now be phased out nicely.
