changing SIP address when using O365 with on prem AD
We have all our email on O365/Exchange Online. But because we have our AD on prem, we create the user locally and then sync it to O365. During this process, O365/Exchange Online creates a SIP address but its not always correct. I cant change it because our AD is only a one way sync. And in my AD (I do have a exchange server locally that i use for management) I dont see a SIP address. Its only listed on the O365 side.
Has anyone come across this and know how to fix? Does the SIP get crated based on the email address or the user account (UPN)?

Gotcha. You can add SIP addresses to the list of addresses on-prem in AD by adding it to the list of email addresses and it should get synced up to O365. You can't remove the default, but you can at least set one that you want to use.
msidnam-Please find your user in AD, right-Click properties> select the Attribute Editor tab
Look for an Attribute named msRTCSIP-PrimaryUserAddres s. This is where you will edit it and then it will sync back out to o365.

I was afraid that might be the case. We have an older piece of software that doesnt like anything over 8 characters for usernames so we have been shortening them. But then we have another piece of software that if the SIP and email address doesn't match, it doesn't work. Looks like we have some things to figure out.
Thank you
