I had this question after viewing SSIS error VS_NEEDSNEWMETADATA.

have just run my SSIS package through SQL Agent and recieved the following error.

"component "Schedules01" (426)" failed validation and returned validation status "VS_NEEDSNEWMETADATA".  End Error  Error: 2009-05-24 04:16:10.30     Code: 0xC004700C     Source: AllSchedules DTS.Pipeline     Description: One or more component failed validation.  End Error  Error: 2009-05-24 04:16:10.32     Code: 0xC0024107     Source: AllSchedules      Description: There were errors during task validation.  End Error  DTExec: The package execution returned DTSER_FAILURE (1).  Started:  04:15:12  Finished: 04:16:10  Elapsed:  58.828 seconds.  The package execution failed.  The step failed.

I tried below solution :

deleted the data source and recreated it.
refresh the mapping
recreated the whole task

I am not sure what it all means. Can anybody help?

It simply indicates that the Package needs new Meta data information for that task component to be validated properly.
Either the SQL task that is failing have references to objects that are created in prior tasks or not matching with the current database structure but can get corrected while running the package..
If so, then set Delay validation Property to True to avoid these errors getting displayed while opening the package.

kindly confirm whether the structures of all referenced tables in Local server and in Server are matching or not, if not then it needs to be corrected to fix the issue.
Also check for case sensitive column or table names, as SSIS is case sensitive and any column or table name with case differences might have issues as well and requires remapping to get it working.
ah  not sure .. I did try every other  option.... but now its working  .
Issue : when i wan using the configuration variable for database connection (server and  db name ) it was giving me that error as those value i was receiving from parent package . other packages in same project are working fine. not sure why  this package only  having the issue that too only for one task , other task which using same data source  was working fine.
solution :   i have hard-coded the database server and db name  and now its working fine :).

Just double check the table structures involved in this task alone for any case sensitive column/table names, data type changes which might the reason for the issue..

Good to hear that the issue is fixed out, but I would suggest to find out the reason to resolve similar such issues in long term..
