outlook exchange
Outlook hosted exchange,
I am having a major problem with my best cliend who is using office 365 on a hosted exchange platform. the have another 25/30 mail boxes with no problems.
When the client tries tp open outlook it takes 3 or 4 minuites to lodad and often wont open.
Also if he tries to ope3n a saved outlook message it wont open and crashes.
I have reinstalled outlook several times, fitted a new HDD and reinstalled windows and even tried a differend PC.
I have also done a scan.pst on the ost file.
the only thing I have not tried is to disable cashed exchange mode.
Any help would be appreciated.

How large is the mailbox. Have you tried accessing OWA to see if there are any issues? I would see how OWA responds if you haven't already, and let us know.

The mailbox is 3.5 GB and seems to work with OWA
The event viewer was cleared out so will run the checker
The same issued happened on another PC so dont see how the mailbox could be corrupted.
What do you mean by changing it from DB

I would suggest running the following steps.
1. Disable Outlook Add-ins.
2. Run Outlook client by running it with the following command line swicthes (one at a time).
/safe
/safe:1
/safe:3
/nopreview
Click Start then run type Outlook /safe and execute it.
Does the issue replicate. If it does exit outlook client.
Now try the next command and review the behavior. And then the next.
3. Run Offcat /SARA tool from Microsoft.
SARA tool has a section for Outlook->Outlook keeps crashing. I would suggest running that and review the results.
OffCat tool also has the option to run a comprehensive scan. So i would suggest any one of the two. I have run Offcat tool in the past, it helps identifying any known issues in you build or configuration of client with steps to remedy that. I would suggest running them. Also it lists out all the updates needed by client if its not update. I would suggest doing that as well. Doing so usually corrects typical crash issues.
Note Offcat tool is scheduled to be depracated soon. It still works so i woud suggest running it. SARA tool is the planned alternative to this you may also run that.
OST repair or recovery is good option if you would like to recover data. My hunch is if its bad data then the issue can manifest in the resulting OST /PST. So i would suggest you not to do this time consuming (and most likely a fruitless step).

You good is the clients internet connection because if the mailbox is hosted in O365, then I would definitely look at the connection speed of the clients internet. If the internet connection is pretty good, then I would contact O365 support and see if they see anything going on with the mailbox. If you have opened the user mailbox on multiple different computers with same result I would contact O365 support.
You can repair corrupt OST file by using Stellar OST to PST Converter. The software converts inaccessible OST file to PST format then you can import PST to Outlook to access your mailboxes. For trial version, you can check Official website: https://www.stellarinfo.com/convert-ost-to-pst.php
Author is there any confirmed resolution on this before the ticket is closed?

aapologies for the delay in updating this question, I only have limited access to the clients PC hence the delay.
Thank you all for your input and I have gone through most if not all of your suggestions.
I have narrowd down the issue to:
Outlook seems to work OK when receiving and sending emails, the problem occurs when trying to open a saved outlook file either one the desktop or the network, thats when outlook hangs.
The client save outlook messages in a customer file to store and change the message header. When subsquently trying to open this file thats when outlook hangs.
Again apologies for my dleay in responding.

The problem still exists but having tried most of the resolutions in some format I am closing this question and reposting a more specific question
The 1st spot to look in the event viewer.
Use this:
https://gallery.technet.microsoft.com/office/Get-event-logs-errors-and-6871f163
Try this with the option:
.\GetEventErrorsAAS.ps1 -Days 15
Look for the most frequent error and let us know what is related to outlook.
It can be a mailbox corruption, which can be fixed by changing it from DB.
Btw, " scan.pst on the ost file." you can't use scan.exe because it doesn't work on OST files, just on PSTs.
