IE freezes overnight
I am having an internet issue where I leave IE pages open on my home computer overnight and when I return to them the next day IE is frozen and I have to end the task every time. I am also noticing that IE is crashing often. How can I troubleshoot this?

The pertinent factor is which URL's you leave open. Most pages now have ads and many of them will refresh those ads on a regular basis. The ads, too, don't come from that website; but, rather from an independent advertising company and numerous factors, including security patches, can break the new ads from appearing. What sites do you leave open?
I suggest you also check it is up to date, or if there is any updates pending.
Could you check your events errors for applications for a clue as to what maybe causing it?

I can not refresh the page or close the page. The only thing I can do is end the task. I can start a new ie session. Just not do anything with what was left open.

And it doesn't matter the website.

I did run malwarebytes on it. Nothing found. Will try these tonight. Thanks.
Try the steps I mentioned==works on problems like the most of the time
Did you get this resolved?

No. The issue is about the same. I tried a reinstall. I tried the suggested malware scans. I made sure that I was up to date with all patches. I haven't disables add ins yet.
Does it happen if you leave ONLY this page open?

I will test it. But I believe so.
Please disable all addins and let us know what happens then--addins can cause all kinds of issues
Any event error? relating to IE.
Is it only IE that locks up or is your desktop?
If it is system lockup then possibly it related to other things, could be AV background tasks. Could be heat?
The first place I'd look is in the events erros.
Does it happen if using Chrome?
Try deleting all IE history.
Possibly temporary internet files settings has reached the set amount of disc space to use?

Well, it still crashes, but the pages don't get stuck anymore. I think the reinstall fixed it, but I'd surely like to know what happened. Thanks everyone!
