Questions on ISACA CISM : exam dates, fees

Would like to find out a few things before joining ISACA:

a) attached is the payment page: is the membership fee of $40 for the country's
local chapter mandatory (ie we must pay for it)?  I can't uncheck any of the boxes

b) which of the items are annually payable?

c) without joining or signing up for the exam yet, is there any way to check the
scheduled dates for CISM?  Any non-member site to check or anyone who is
a member could share this?  I don't want to purchase the exam too early if
I'm not ready yet to take the exam

d) If I purchase the exam, what's the validity period to take the purchased exam?
    6 months, 1 year?

e) Lastly, any idea if CISM or CISA certifications are more in demand in the industry?

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

a) You have to join a local chapter if you're in the territory of one, so yes you must pay.
"Membership in the association requires joining both the international association and a local chapter when residing or working within its territory. Select a chapter for additional information and to determine its territory."
https://www.isaca.org/Membership/Local-Chapter-Information/Pages/default.aspx
b) Association and local chapter dues are both annual.
c) You can check availability at this site: https://isacaavailability.psiexams.com
d) I believe that you have 6 months.
e) I've heard more value in CISA than I have in CISM.

D) Each exam window has associated registration, scheduling and deferral
deadlines that are important to keep in mind.

Exam Window 2
1 March 2018 (registration open)
18 September 2018 (deadline to register)
23 September 2018 (deadline to defer)

Exam Window 3
1 July 2018 (registration open)
18 January 2019 (deadline to register)
24 January 2019 (deadline to defer)

Take a look at the guide for more details. But also note
You can reschedule your exam within the same testing window if done a minimum of 48 hours prior to your originally scheduled appointment. If you are within 48 hours of your scheduled appointment, you must take the exam
or forfeit the registration fee.

Deferring the Exam

You may elect to defer your unscheduled or cancelled exam eligibility to the
following testing window for a US $200 processing fee.

E) Actually both but CISA is the baseline fir auditor but if you are looking at a managerial post then CISM is more reliable as they will be looking for them. For info, SCMag also awarded CISM as the best professional certification while CUSA took it last year. Nonetheless the pool of CISA will be more as it is the earliest of all. Go for CISA and then CISM if you want to vebtire into audit scope of work.

Thanks very much.

So if I want to take the CISM exam in last week Aug to 1st week of Sep 2018,
which Window am I looking at based on BTan's post above?

Or the exam dates are not known yet (as BTan only posts the deferment &
registration dates)?

You need to register for a date within exam window 2. The dates available within that window depend on the location you're taking the test at. The windows are the dates for actually taking the test.

Expert is right.

You need to register within the exam window online. Both CISA and CISM (same for CRISC and CGEIT) exams are offered multiple times within three windows in 2018. Review the following exam windows to determine when you would like to take your exam.

Exam Window 1 - 1 February – 24 May 2018
Exam Window 2 - 1 June – 23 September 2018
Exam Window 3 - 1 October – 24 January 2019

When you register for a specific exam window, it is important to confirm that the exam window you choose has a location and date that works for you. You can verify availability by checking the exam schedule. http://www.isaca.org/examlocations
If necessary, you have an option to move your exam registration to another window by paying a $200 deferral fee.

It has to be within the window period. You can defer to the next testing window only. See more info below.
