Could not see data on tape in Bcakup Exec after server rebuild

I had a backup server which went down and neede to rebuild it, I installed Windows 2008 Server and Backup Exec 15 and now when I do an inventory on the tapes it comes out 0 bytes and the server says never backed up. I know there is data on those tapes, how do I restore the data?
Thanks,

I was afraid to do that, I didn't know what that does, so even if it's a brand new server Catalog should recreate the inventory on the tape, and I won't lose any data from that tape? Just wanted to make it clear that's how it works
Thanks,

I think the Backup Server is backed up on the tape however, since I had to rebuild the backup server, and reinstall everything fresh, there are no more indexes there, I need to recreate them all.
So, after I run Catalog on a tape, I should be able to restore files from that tape, right?
Yes... As long as the tapes weren't encrypted, or if they were, you restored a copy of the encryption key... I keep a copy of mine on a USB stick, and another copy in a dropbox account
After I did the catalog on the tapes I was able to restore files, thanks a lot for helping me
Glad to hear it was sorted out.
