KVM to IP for remote offices without local IT

Hello,
I have few offices that I need to support, I always assist remotely the business users.
Was wondering if there is a KVM switch that connects to the internet, and then I can plug it to a computer via USB and VGA so I can control the machine remotely, even via the bios. Kinda like HO iLO.

Any recommendations ?

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Hi Da_Ch0sen,

There are quite a few, but they work out semi-expensive. Some good brands are:

  • Avocent (Vertivco) -plenty of choice of cable adapters, like serial, for older HW appliances-
  • Tripp·Lite
  • Rose electronics (a classic brand in Computer Rooms)
  • StarTech
  • Raritan (Legrand)
  • Belkin has some cheap and pretty decent KVMs for racks and ROBOs (but not remote I think)
  • Rittal

As Fred suggested, there is plenty of choice in amazon, just search for "kvm ip switches" or kvm remote ip", but you can also check this website specialised precisely in KVMs,
