Changes to mail Universal security group in exchange 2010

In exchange 2010 environment, I have one "mail Universal security group"

I need to make changes to this group:

- Change its Name
- Change the Alias name
- Change the primary email address
- Leave all the members untouched.

There are about 20 users in this group currently and this group may be applied to various folders for security on file servers. I therefore do not want to delete it completely and recreate it because that will cause the security on file permissions to break. I am not sure if by changing the Alias name will it cause file permissions to break ?

What can I do to ensure that the name, alias name and email address is changed without affecting anything else.

Thanks very much!

Nick

Thanks Adam very much!

I did the changes through EMC and everything looking good.
The only question I have now is, I looked into AD and the group name of AD object is still the old one. Email is showing as the new email but the Group name (pre-windows 2000) is still showing the old name. Will it eventually change or I should have initiated this change in AD first ?

Thank you Adam for Prompt responses.

Everything looks good on the server and Outlook web app. I guess Outlook application will take some time to reflect this change.
Tried downloading the address book but its not updated, so I will check tomorrow.

Have a great day.
You can force an update to the GAL by running
get-globaladdresslist | update-globaladdresslist

from the Exchange Management Shell. It should update during nightly maintenance, but it sometimes doesn't, depending on how big your databases are and how long the maintenance window is set for on the databases (Exchange does a lot of stuff during its nightly maintenance, so if it doesn't get to the GAL update, just run that command and it'll update things for you). You may also need to run
get-offlineaddressbook | update-offlineaddressbook
