Best free services for sending emails without SMTP authentication

What are the best free services for sending emails without SMTP authentication?

I need to configure my organization's WSUS server for sending notification emails and would prefer to use a free account that doesn't require SMTP authentication.

What are the best free services for doing this?

If you install a linux distribution you can install a smtp service like postfix and enable relay from the LAN. This is a free and effective solution but it requires an available machine to turn into a linux box.

Joshaven Potter,

Can you provide me with instructions on how I can create a Linux virtual OS as a Server 2016 Hyper-V virtual machine?
I would recommend installing ubuntu server edition then apt install postfix. Tell it to be an internet site.  Afterwards modify the config file which I think will be /etc/postfix/main.cfg so that the relay line has your local ip subnet listed.

Does anyone know of any sources where I can find information on how to properly install Ubuntu server including installing postfix?

I woudl presume that as you have WSUS, you have email within your organisation, as long as you are sending email to: an address within your organisation, you should be able to send the notifications to your MX record. Depending on how your organizations email is configured, you may need to send from: a sub-domain, or different domain.
Just as an aside, the majority of SMTP servers that allow open relay (or non authenticated sending) are generally quickly flagged as spam sources once discovered. If you're going to run your own open relay, be aware that you could end up with your originating IP flagged as a spam source for making such a server available. Getting whitelisted again can be a royal PITA. Just something to keep in mind.

Cheers...

@AndrewLeniart, I think whatthe OP actually requires is a smarthost rather than an oprn relay...
Where are your user's mailboxes? Is is it an on premise mail system, cloud service or an ISP?

The user's mailboxes are located in the cloud within Office 365.
if the mailboxes are in the cloud in O365, create a receive connector in O365 using the exit IP address that emails would be sent from, and set your MX record as the smarthost/mail server address
