Backup job Error code E00084C7 and E00084C8.

Client has HP MSL2024

Library partition left one tape until 26 Jun can be overwritten.

Any suggestions on how I can do further checking to analyze the issue?

Use the web GUI on the MSL to check the state of the drives and get the error log. The default administrator password is 00000000.

Hi! Andyalder,

I can access the tape drive remotely, the issue is I do not know where are the daily backup tapes as the tapes do not have a barcode.

1. Is there such a thing as to place the stored tapes into the drive to identify which tape is which tape?
2. Will moving the tapes to the drive for identification "screws up" the library or even the backup job?
3. Are the tapes for the daily backup in an allocated space in the library?

the error is more on "If the error occured during the backup process, check the statistics of both the Tape drive and Tape been used for the backup. The write errors will be relatively high"

What I don't understand is why is it the same tape can backup a few servers but other servers it got this error, when the jobs are backing up on the same LTO 6 tape.

I will see what kind of cleaning can be done and then try to see if the tape itself has any issue.

You really need barcode labels, you should buy them when you buy the tapes. They are a bit of a pain to stick on without spilling out of the alignment slot.

If you generate a L&TT support ticket and post it any of us can analyse it as L&TT is free and can read the ticket even on a laptop without tape attached.

Hi! Guys,

Hp engineer viewed the logs and found that both drives are faulty even after changing to a new chassis.

Odd that they changed the chassis when it was clearly a drive/media error. Bear in mind that there can be cross-contamination from drive to cartridge so you may get the fault coming back unless you buy new tapes and retire the old media. Look at the stats for each tape under BE, you can spot the faulty ones there and get labels for them this time.
