You can check BackBlaze or Idrive which are cheaper and faster compared to Carbonite

If you can explain the reason why you want to shift out of Carbonite, I can recommend better..
I don't want to hijack someone else's thread, but I was monitoring to see what suggestions came through.  I am looking to move away from Carbonite as well.

I have used it for many years and was happy with it.  It certainly saved me a couple times.  However, after the last time I purchased a multi-year subscription, the software started getting buggy.

I have filed multiple bugs with Carbonite.  The software crashes.  It isn't that it skips a file for an error, it actually crashes and restarts.  I have the logs with error messages that are a half a screen long and crash dumps.  Carbonite refuses to address the issue.  They say that the software eventually backs up the files without issue, so there is no problem.  They also tried to blame it on an issue with the machine itself, but it was happening on two machines, and then happened on a third machine that was brand new and the only thing on the machine besides Windows was Carbonite.

My belief, and Carbonite won't back this up and refuses to even look at the crash dumps (they claim that nobody there can read them), is that it has something to do with a zero length (or very small file) that is removed while the backup is running.  Seems to be attributable to Chrome mostly, but the issue is with Carbonite.  I understand dumping a message in the log and skipping the file, but the software shouldn't crash.

I think this happens a lot more than they know.  Customers aren't looking at the logs and just click try again when the big nasty window comes up and says there was a problem.

Thank all for your answers!

Let me give you our background! We are CPA firm and we have one server set-up. We had to ask our IT vendor leave because of our financial crunch. Now we are trying to manage everything our own and do not want reach to IT vendor until some urgency comes.  So, I need to understand these three suggestion works.

My Understanding for Carbonite is it back-ups our data

Carbonite is currently taking the information from the computer (OS - window server 2016) nicknamed "XYZ". There are no other computers or file that Carbonite is backing up and taking information from. This information is then uploaded into our Carbonite cloud and is accessible through our account portal.

Carbonite keeps old versions of changed files for up to three months. It keeps one daily version of the file for each day of the past week, one weekly version for each of the previous three weeks, and one monthly version for each of the previous two months that the file has been backed up. Carbonite will also keep at least the three most recent versions of a file regardless of age.

These three option looks great pricing wise, however, I am concerned about Security, Support,  version of data they keep, and are they easy to use?

I can see BackBlaze or Idrive have dedicated support via call, chat email, however, looks like Syncback does not have the option other than community or knowledgebase.

Also, can you help me understanding which plan should we go for? We need 50 Gb of storage?

Can we back-up all the database into Gdrive? I mean is there a way to do that? Is it good Idea?

Thanks for help :)
Before trying out any online backup service, do a background check. Look at the user ratings on https://www.trustpilot.com and https://www.cnet.com and www.bbb.org

SyncBack (www.2brightsparks.com) provides excellent support through their forum and via email, but the software is complex. It is fine for someone in IT but challenging for the average user.

The setup and monthly subscription cost of backup services is trivial compared to the value of your business. You need two independent offsite backups of all your files and data. Don't need a full-time IT specialist on staff  for this (though a good one who knows internet marketing can give you a 3x ROI).

You really ought to pay a specialist to set up your backup systems and disaster recovery plan. Do you tell your clients that they should just buy QuickBooks and do their own accounting by reading the manual? An IT specialist can set up your backups over the internet, sharing a screen with you. He or she can set up a drive image backup program, Veeam Agent for Windows, that is free and will allow the fastest possible recovery from a crashed drive and many, but not all, other risks. Or you could possibly set up Veeam Agent for Windows with rotating offsite external hard drives, but you still need a cloud backup.

Can you imagine "saving" $200 to $500 in consulting fees only to find out that your files are all destroyed and you can't get them back?

Please send me a private message if you are interested in any referrals to IT specialists who can assist you via phone and screen-sharing.
>> Also, can you help me understanding which plan should we go for? We need 50 Gb of storage?

As Wells Anderson suggested, you can try SyncBack once before planning to go for the subscription options like BackBlaze or IDrive which I've suggested. If you feel comfortable with the SyncBack and its community, then you can save some cost associated with your Monthly subscriptions..
