Unable to connect to Windows 10 froma virtual XP Machine

I have a client who runs a franchise and the software provided by the franchise only works on Windows XP. At the begining of the year we replaced their workstations with Windows 10 PC's running virtual VM ware with windows XP which is running fine. The file server is running windows 7.

As it is now time to change the file server we relaced it with a Windows 10 Maching.

The problem now is the Windows XP machines wont find or map a network drive to the new Windows 10 maching although I can ping it from anvirtual XP maching.

All firewalls are disabled and in network and sharing centre network discovery is enabled.

XP is so old and insecure it is not going to connect to Windows 10 (I have an XP VM here). Forget that and connect the other way around - from Windows 10 to XP.  That should work. You may need to adjust NTLM.

You can also move data (one time I hope) with a USB Hard Drive.

Qlemo is correct.  Only SMB V1 is supported by XP, but enabling it on your W10 system is going to shoot a big hole in your network's security.  Better to come forward to Vista x32 (!) and see if the VMs still run your chosen software.

Yes. That is the alternate suggestion above of using a USB Hard Drive to transfer data.
have you tried using the application compatibility toolkit to create a shim so that the older program will work.

The compatibility app does not work.
I am going back to site tomorrow and will try the suggestions above and update
