Dears,

1. can we generate 1 report from different data sources (MS SQL and Oracle)?

2. Should we propose separate HWs for reporting for better performance if many DB's are being fetched?

3. Does SSRS SW require any license ?

1. Crystal reports may be able to do this.

2. You may see some benefit to splitting it off. If it's virtual, move it to another host.

3. SSRS is part of SQL therefore covered by your normal licence.

Depending on the reports complexity: Excel and PowerPivot does also work. Or tools like PowerBI, which are free depending on your needs.

Welcome to EE, hope we can help!

1. can we generate 1 report from different data sources (MS SQL and Oracle)?
Yes, but you need to install the .Net Oracle driver.

2. Should we propose separate HWs for reporting for better performance if many DB's are being fetched?
Probably not, but it really depends on how hard you're hitting that server. Best I can say is "try it and see".

3. Does SSRS SW require any license ?
Any SQL license will work. Without the Enterprise version you won't be able to do Data-Driven Subscriptions, which are handy if you have a lot of subscribers to manage, but certainly is not necessary.
