"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

The only option is to use the YouTube api to embed  videos on your own site.  you could also frame it but I believe that is against the terms of use.

Point your domain to your own webserver. This webserver has only one task, redirecting the user to the youtube channel.

Even simpler, use a redirect service that does this for you. Google for "url redirect service" to find these.

Domain name registration requires a static IP address as you have guessed in your question. So the only option as already pointed out by previous experts, is to auto direct all hits to you youtube channel which can be done in the web server configuration itself.

I think I will reserve the .TV domain, then:

1) create a new channel and a few video for YouTube
2) add the /video folder to my main website that redirects to the MyDomain.TV page
3) On that page, display the title of each video, with a link to each of the YouTube video.

Does this make sense?
Scott Fell, EE MVEDeveloper & EE ModeratorCommented:
No, that does not make sense. Leave redirection and the new domain out of the picture. Use the site you currently have and create a video page by embedding the youtube videos on your site and keep links directly to your youtube channel on your video page(s).

If you redirect in step 2, then there is no step 3.

What is the point of having a .TV domain?
newbiewebSr. Software EngineerAuthor Commented:
I want the TV domain for marketing purposes. It's a brand.

It gives me options for my business card that is far more interesting than just an email address or web domain.

This is the first step, but I could do many things in the future with that.

Why does it not make sense? It's like it's my own TV channel. And since I am in the financial business, I want to say

"Watch and Save $$$"

people prefer to watch than to read...

I hope to hear your thoughts and other people's thoughts.

If you already have a domain name, that is your brand and that domain name is already established. If you have good navigation, your video page will be easy to find. When you start up a new site, it takes effort to build up seo.

If you do choose to go with the .tv domain, then on your current site, have a video page with thumbnails and descriptions that link to the other domain.  No need to do a redirection in any other manner.

As it said in the first comment, you can use youtube api, to made integration of your own chanel to your web site.

Some thing like that:{your key}&channelId={channel_id}&part=snippet,id&order=date&maxResults=20

here, are full api refferences:

here how to get started with that:

Great Idea!

See, my site is at the .COM domain, but I had not thought about using the TV in its place.

I just purchase .TV since I am that committed to the concept of making a major video repository and a defacto TV Channel.

I could consider using the .TV as my only domain, which is a great idea.
