Test PXE boot besides Production PXE
Hi all,
I would like to test a PXE boot with a task sequence via SCCM, but I already using it in our network for MDT PXE install.
Can I create a seperate test PXE or have a testdevice look for a specific source which is in this case SCCM?
Thanks, all!
Best regards

for testing/labs I always use VM's ,, put both vm's on their own subnet and test
Hi,
No - you can only have one PXE responder per network. If you have Altiris PXE you can't have SCCM PXE for example. As David says the easiest way is to use virtualisation especially for testing.

Ok, that's pretty clear and logical.
Is it then a possibility to test if the deployment is working as it should with for example a usb boot?
thanks

Hi -
Yes it is. I love being able to test a build by creating an ISO and booting a VM OR saving the contents to USB (using Rufus) and booting physical machines to test everything without needing any network at all. Then you know your build is good and any failures are definitely down to network gremlins.
