Chrome OS - WiFi connection constantly dropping on Acer 15 Chromebook

Chrome OS - WiFi connection constantly dropping on Acer 15 Chromebook.
I am using a Windows laptop running IIS to host our website, and a TP-Link wifi extender to create a private network for the Chromebook to connect to, but the chromebook keeps dropping the wifi connection. The network connection does not have internet access
From the Device-Log: Network Error [time] Default network in unexpected state: HOST (/service/1)State: idle
the above error repeats every minute in time with when the chromebook drops connection.

We have a suite of other laptops (Dell Inspiron) which connect without issue and load the website correctly.

I have been advised that the chromebook is actively looking for an internet connection, and if it cannot fine one on the network it is currently connected to it will drop it and try to connect to a different network. If this is the case, is there a way to stop or bypass the requirement for internet connection and connect only to the private network connection?

Do you have any USB WiFi adapters anywhere you can try to plug into the system to see if it will work on a different hardware hosting WiFi access? Not specifically to Chrome books but this issue is sometimes a sign of a bad WiFi receiver and maybe using a second device to eliminate this would help you further develop an idea of the cause.

I don't have a USB WiFi adapter to hand to test but can try one later. The only possible sticking point for this would be how to disable the internal WiFi adapter as there is not an obvious Device Manager as in Windows.
Additionally, when connected to a network with internet access the connection seems stable without dropouts.
They are really inexpensive and if that is not your issue most retailers offer returns if necessary. Some models have hot keys on the chassis to disable all wifi you may can look for. The best way to figure this out since you have internet connection is google your model and see it either from user posts of the manual.
