DHCP Server not functioning

Windows Server 2016 DHCP server stopped handing out IP addresses.  I'm receiving a ton of the following error in the event viewer:

  • PTR record registration faor IPv4 address [x.x.x.x] and FQDN [computer name] failed with error 9017 (DNS bad key)

No DNS events; that seems to be fine.  I've tried the troubleshooting with no luck.  Clients are still receiving an auto config IP address 169.x.x.x
Is there a reverse DNS zone configured?
And have you tried restarting the DHCP service?
