WSUS push update for "feature update to window 10, version 1709, en-us" issue

Dear All

I have a WSUS server and already made approval for "feature update to window 10, version 1709, en-us , and when i look at the status report, i see that the client has not yet sent the events have been purged from the server, it been a fews days already, and the status report still remain like this, just wonder is that normal ? how do i get the update install on the window 10 computers ?

What OS is your test client running and what patch level is WSUS running. Have you checked theof mentioned in the message?

Do you have a group policy in place which stops domain computers from upgrading OS versions through Windows Update? I ask as this would cause this behaviour.

Are you using WSUS on Windows Server 2012 or 2016?

I mean what is the EXACT version of WSUS (or of the windows server running WSUS?) As Microsoft has changed and tweaked the file format for windows 10 upgrades, they often must upgrade WSUS to properly support the new file format. These are released as updates to the server OS inmost cases.

What version of windows 10 is the test client? "Windows 10" is clearly a broad description, considering you are trying to upgrade to 1709...that implies you are not already running 1709. To get help, specifics are usually required.

the window 10 that i want to update the current version is 1507 with OS Build 10240 & 1607 with OS Build 14393

i checked, this update has been downloaded and installed on some of the windows 10 computers,

for those showing not installed, does it means the computer has issue to connect to WSUS server ?

Hi Piaakit,

It means the update hasn't installed on the machine yet. If they are applicable for the update they will receive it.

If the machine had issues connecting to WSUS it would show "NOT REPORTED".

below report show specific computer it is pending and last contact is 14 days , total updates 75.

This is a different issue and you should open a new ticket.

Is the machine on and connected to the network?
On the machine go to CMD (ADMIN) and type wuauclt /detectnow /reportnow - should force the communication between client and server.

i check the report for the specific computer, this time its shows "not applicable", and looking back to the patches report, the specific computer name no longer appear in the report, do you have any idea ? the specific computer OS Build no is 10240 and version is 1507, do i need the update to version 1607 then 1709 ?

Hi,

Yes i have seen this before where the version 1507 will not update to 1709. You could manually upgrade it first to 1607 and then attempt the Windows Update to install 1709. Just a FYI, version 1803 is out and is the latest version of Windows 10.

thx for your information, and for 1607, i was trying to search from window update catelog i can not find the "classifications" is upgrade for 1607 , if possible can you provide me the link ?

below is what i found from WSUS, shall i below this to upgrade for the computer which is on 1507 ?
