Adaptec RAID 6805T not showing in VMWare 6.5

Hello, All.

OK, I have the following.
VMWare 6.5 Update 1 (Free version)

Adaptec RAID 6805T

I have it configured for a 4 drive RAID 5.
However, it is not showing up inside of ESXi.

I found this driver.
Adaptec RAID Driver v1.2.1-52040 for VMware

However, the driver is for versions of VMware 5, 5.5, and 6.0
I have 6.5 update 1

Also, if this driver will work with 6.5 u1
How would you install it into the FREE Version of VMWare?

I also found this information as well.
I just want to make sure that this is going to work before I attempt it.
How to install 3rd Party RAID controller drivers in VMware ESXi 6.0

I would like so input on this before I attempt to do this.
As this is on a production system, and I prefer not to mess anything up.

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

It may work, but you really need to use hardware which is certified for 6.5.

You will end up with a Purple/Pink Screen of Death e.g. ESXi crash if the driver and hardware is not compatible! (and you will then need to re-install)

Check the VMware Hardware Compatability Lists HCL here

The VMware Hardware Compatibility List is the detailed lists showing actual vendor devices that are either physically tested or are similar to the devices tested by VMware or VMware partners. Items on the list are tested with VMware products and are known to operate correctly.Devices which are not on the list may function, but will not be supported by VMware.

Want to continue and install the driver ?

Andrew, hope you are doing well.
Before I purchased the card, I checked to make sure it would
#1: Work with my board.
#2: work with VMWare 6.5 and above.

As you can tell by the link that Sajid provided, it works with 6.5

Thanks, Sajid, I found this link a few days ago, while searching, and totally missed the little [t] beside the driver names.

In the list for 6.5 U1

The [Formware version]
Would that be the firmware for the RAID Controller?
If so, mine is: (Just upgraded it this evening) -- 5.2.0 build 19147

Which would I choose from?

The closest one I can find is this one.
     aacraid version      5.2.0 [19109]/5.2.0 [19144]
Andrew Hancock (VMware vExpert / EE MVE^2)VMware and Virtualization ConsultantCommented:
It's listed in the HCL, then it works!

That is the firmware on the Adaptec card, that ESXi has been verified and certified with in their testing and certification.

driver is here

for that firmware version

aacraid version - 19144

I would verify with Adaptec where you  can find matched firmwares.

Thanks, Sajid.
Downloaded the one I comment about and installed it.
Got the system rebooted and added the new datastore with the raid of 1.43TB
Love it.

Thank you.
