your automatic replies cannot be displayed because the server is unavailable
Hi Guys,
Having an issue where people are unable to setup out of office in the outlook client. "your automatic replies cannot be displayed because the server is unavailable"
We use Exchange 2010 and Outlook 2016 clients, it's the regular issue where you can set it with OWA but not Outlook - Something to do with EWS by the sounds of it!
There's a lot of info online which I've been reading into and following, I feel like I'm making progress but the actual problem is still occurring.
Autodiscover was missing externally so I've added this and it's now successful when using testconnectivity but when I use the "Automatic Reply/EWS" option, it's succeeding until the bottom where it says the below:
Creating a temporary folder to perform synchronization tests.
Failed to create temporary folder for performing tests.
Additional Details
ErrorADUnavailable: Active Directory is unavailable. Try again later.
Elapsed Time: 2832 ms.
Can anyone advise on what I may be missing? All the URLs have been entered when I test the autodiscover within outlook.
I'm unsure if the fact it's saying AD is unavailable is related.
Thanks,
Dom

EWS is setup correctly as far as the URL goes.
When I go to the specified page I get a login prompt and then I'm able to view the xml file. Still no joy.

hmm then it's not the EWS issue, probably there could be some back Links attached to the mailbox.

It's effecting everyone and not just an individual mailbox. I was thinking maybe the file for EWS isn't populating the information correctly or something like that?
if you are getting the XML post auth wtih EWS then the service is good..
check the xml outlook getting post autodisover has the correct and reachable EWS url, please review the XML...
you can do the autodisover test from the outlook or from the exrca.com tool.

Hi Sunil, the autodiscover is working correctly. The links are coming back OK and the Autodiscover test from exrca and Outlook comes back successful also.

Resetting the Virtual Directory in Exchange resolved the issue. Originally there was no autodiscover in place so this was necessary to configure first.
url would be something like below....
