I installed the WSUS role on a SErver 2016 server but have received a messaged that the WSUS Post-deployment configuration failed.

I have attached the log file for this error.

What do I need to do to fix this issue?

self-explanatory...fix your permission issue
any reason why you are using unc path instead of a local volume?

I am logged onto this server with the domain admin (administrator) account.

When I browse to the share using its UNC path I am able to create, modify, and delete files and folders without any issues.

I need to use the UNC path since I don't' have enough space on any local volumes.

Are there any types of special permissions or additional steps that need to be done when configuring WSUS to get this to work?

I went ahead and created a VHDX file on the hard drive where I was planning to store the Windows updates and have set up this VHDX file as a separate hard drive within the Hyper-V virtual server and this is where the updates are now stored.

This has resolved the issue and I have been able to complete the WSUS configuration setup.
