Lotus Organisor 5 Export calendar options
I have a client still running Lotus Organiser 5 from Windows 3.1 days.
The client needs the historical calendar data and to me the best place to move it to is their Exchange Server.
Have you come across a process or tool/application that can make this a possibility?

Export to flat file and import into Outlook should work just fine

Thanks Shaun, the issue with the flat file is that Lotus concatenates the Date/Time and has some odd characters that mess up the import.
I have tried
the VCS export option
The Export as ASCII txt option
I have tried matching the files in different ways, but was hoping there'd be a quick and dirty way that would succeed. I am assuming this product is pre 2000 too as some of the dates generate an error "the year 2051 is inconsistent with an event that translates to another ..."
I have tried
the VCS export option
- Imports the data
- Fails to create the titles used for each calendar entry
- doesnt assign the times accurately
The Export as ASCII txt option
- Shows the subject
- Schedules them all for Midnight on the day they are scheduled
- Doesnt import appointments prior to March 29 2007

After a bit of a play this is how I achieved it.
These give you two options to play with the data
Import into Excel
to this in the EDITED tab
You may want to create a SUBJECT field using the first few words in the Description so that something shows up in Calendar as a title.
Save your Spreadsheet as an Excel file
Save a copy of Edited as a CSV and import into a calendar
- Export the data as a CSV
- Export the data as VCS
These give you two options to play with the data
- Open the files in Notepad (although Textpad is better for jumping around the data)
- Go thru the DESCRIPTION filed and join any items that will take up multiple rows when imported to Excel
Import into Excel
- Name the tabe RAW DATA
- Create a new worksheet called Edited
- Import the CSV into RAW
- Use LEFT and MID functions in the EDITED Tab to extract the dates and times into the correct format
- TO get the date use =LEFT(TEXT(RAW!C2,"DD/MM/Y
YYY HH:MM"),10) - TO get the Time use =MID(TEXT(RAW!C2,"DD/MM/YY
YY HH:MM"),11,18)
to this in the EDITED tab
