One specific computer that's ON network gets error when opening Home Folder My Docs

Windows 10 workstation on a Windows Server 2008 R2 domain.  Using Home folders.  15 users all working fine.  Home Folders (My Docs, My Pics, etc) are all redirected to a shared Users folder on the server with each users folders being Users\User1\My docs, Users\User2\my Docs, etc.  One user was working fine for months, but all of a sudden he gets an error that he doesn't have permission to access the folder.  He has access to the Server computer, can ping it and navigate to the server and it's other shares from the File Explorer, can even open the Users folder, and a miscellaneous file that is in his Users\User1 folder, BUT CANNOT access his Home Folders.
-I signed him into another computer on the domain network, and he has full normal access to his home folders on the other network computer.
-I have not yet tested whether a different user on his computer will have access to their home folders when signing in from his computer.

-No other users have reported any problems and one other user has reported her home folders are definitely working fine, as usual. I have restarted the problem computer, additionally shared the Users folder to this specific user, and lowered his user account control settings to none (but have not restarted since the lowering)...at this time he is still receiving a no permission to access error on the problem machine.

This would have been my first step.. also try logging in as that user on a different computer

Good timing.  I was just going to update.  A different user on this machine works properly right away with the redirected Home Folders.  It's just this one user on this one computer (at least as far as has been reported or tested).  this user has been working properly for months with this machine and it's really the only computer he works at...so sorta need to fix it here, but the troubleshooting makes it frustrating.
any thoughts?

Thanks...that's what I was afraid of. Fairly complicated setup, tons of programs and pointers. Time to bite the bullet.
Any harm in putting it off a week or two? Or is the corruptuon likely to worsen?
Thx!
