Hw to remove Exchange 2010 from my network after migrating to Exchange 2016

Exchange 2016 CU9 DAG 2 Node
Windows 2016 Data Center

I have 2 Exchange 2016 Servers setup as a DAG

I had a Exchange 2010 Server with all my mailboxs on it.  I migrated all the mailboxes to exchange 2016 mailbox database.

I shutdown the exchange 2010 server but when I go the my EAC I still see it referenced

How do I remove that old exchange 2010 server from my Exchange 2016 setup

I see the databases, virtual directories send connector etc

How to completely remove this?

Thank you

Normally, you should turn the Exchange 2010 server on and uninstall Exchange. That will clear out all reference to it from AD.

If you can't do that, you would need to remove the exchange server using ADSIEdit. https://msexperttalk.com/remove-exchange-server-using-adsi-edit/

ASKER

Thanks I can uninstall it

One question  do I need to delete the databases first?

All the mailboxes where migrated to the exchange 2016 server

But they are still on the 201 server all as disconnected

I have one public folder database too I was going to create a new one on 2016

Thoughts?

Yes you will have to remove all DBs, public folder, and Offline Address Books.
As long as all the mailboxes are moved to 2016 don't worry about the mailboxes in the disconnected. that is correct just in case you had to move the mailboxes back. Also you need to make sure that all the arbitration mailboxes are also migrated from 2010 to 2016. run the below cmdlets to confirm they are no longer on 2010

get-mailbox -Arbitration | ft

If you attempt to delete the mailbox databases on 2010 an arbitration mailboxes are still present it will not allow you to delete the DB. Once all this is complete you can delete exchange using the add remove program and uninstall like any other software.
PS] C:\Windows\system32>get-mailbox -arbitration | ft

I do not see the exchange 2010 database any longer on the exchange 2016 server

How do I move them

I already have them on 2016 they were created automatically so why do I need them from the 2010 server?

How would I move the public folder also?

Does this mean I can delete the public folder database on my exchange 2010 server now?
Thank you both Tim and Sandeep  my Exchange 2010 server is not decommissioned
No records on my Exchange 2016 Servers of the 2010 Exchange exists.

Thanks for the help.
