How to create vbs/vba to list down both encrypted & unencrypted files & folders in excel.xlsx?

Hi,

I would need to create an excel vba to list down both encrypted & unencrypted files & folders
and the results will be output into excel file where the unencrytped files & folders will be highlighted in the cells/rows in the results file.

Please advise how can I do this?

Thank you so much.

I don't think you can detect a password-encrypted file without trying to open it. How many files do you need to list.. ? since opening them is a time-consuming process.
Actually, if you only need to detect password encrypted Excel files, I think I may have found a way to do this without opening them.

Is it just Excel files you need to list?

Hi Neil,

If I want to scan desktop and folders in D drive on multiple pc(s), the excel file will contain both the encrypted and unencrypted filenames.
I do not need to open the files.
When all the filenames are listed in the excel file, there is some identification e.g "E' stands for encrypted and "U" for unencrypted filenames.

Please advise.
Thanks!
Yes, I understand what you want. I am asking if you are only scanning for encrypted Excel files, or encrypted files of all kinds?
Hi Neil,

I need to scan encrypted and unencrypted files of all kinds.
Please advise.

Thank you
