wow64.dll blue screen
After restarting my HP laptop, I saw the following message in a blue screen:
C:\Windows\system32\wow64. dll is either not designed to run on windows or it contains an error. Try installing the program again using the original installation media or contact your system administrator or the software vendor for support.
What causes this? Is it fixable? After the blue screen is displayed the machine restarts and continues in this order until I manually shut it down.

test your disk - it may have errors; if it operates ok - run chkdsk on it, and sfc if needed
to verify the disk operation, use the disk manufacturers diagnostic - short version, at least should pass
i use the ubcd for this :
Hardware diagnostic CD UBCD
-------------------------- ---------- ---------- -----
go to the download page, scroll down to the mirror section, and click on a mirror to start the download
Download the UBCD and make the cd <<==on a WORKING PC, and boot the problem PC from it
Here 2 links, one to the general site, and a direct link to the download
since the downloaded file is an ISO file, eg ubcd527.iso - so you need to use an ISO burning tool
if you don't have that software, install cdburnerXP : http://cdburnerxp.se/
If you want also the Ram tested - run memtest86+ at least 1 full pass, - you should have NO errors!
direct download : http://www.memtest.org/
For disk Diagnostics run the disk diag for your disk brand (eg seagate diag for seagate drive) from the HDD section - long or advanced diag ! (runs at least for30 minutes)
http://www.ultimatebootcd.com/
** you can make a bootable cd - or bootable usb stick
*** note *** for SSD drives use the tool from the manufacturer, like intel 's toolbox :

I ran both diagnostic tools that came with the laptop, the ones that display as an option after pressing F8. Nothing was detected. Also, Window's does not open, I can only get as far as the Windows logo, then blue screen, then HP displays again in a never ending cycle.
You need to back up (disk in USB carrier) and then reinstall Windows again.
how lon,g did that take, and what was tested? a 500 Gb drive can test more than 2 hrs
also - if the pc boots completely, you can run sfc or a repair
for exact help we need to know what windows version you run

Sorry for taking so long in closing this question. I ended up getting a new laptop from my company. Pretty sure they reinstalled Windows again. Thanks for your responses.
Look in reliability history (action center) to see if errors there tell you what application is causing this.
Update BIOS (need to in 2018), chipset, video and Network drivers (use Manufacturers driver update program).
Restart and run Windows Update (never stops so you are 99% likely not up to date).
Check the reliability history again to see what is causing the error.
