What are you using to analyse the space consumed and available on you Mac?

There are tools like Grand Perspective http://grandperspectiv.sourceforge.net/  and DiskInventory - http://www.derlien.com or jDisk Report - http://www.jgoodies.com/freeware/jdiskreport/
They show you all the files and folders and where space is allocated.

OSX automatically cleans its own logs on a daily, weekly, monthly basis so there is usually no need to manually perform such cleanups in most normal circumstances.
Have you emptied your Trash?
