Cross machine issues

I have an Excel spreadsheet created on my MacBook Pro. The problem exists when attempting to work on the sheet on my iPad. The file is stored in Dropbox and when I click on the file in Dropbox it opens in Preview. However, when I attempt to open the sheet on the iPad in Excel I get the following message on the top of the spreadsheet "Can't upload - We can't merge your changes with those made by someone else. " The file shows 2 of the 5 months of data. Both the MacBook Pro and iPad are up to date.

What happens when you make a test file in Excel on the iPad and store it in Dropbox?  Can it then be open on the Mac Pro?

Is the iPad properly logged into DropBox?

Thanks, John, I created a test file on the Mac and could both open it and edit it on my iPad.  I also created another test file on the Mac, stored it in Dropbox and was able to open the file in Excel on the iPad and edit and save. Given that I can open Dropbox on the iPad and bring the file up in Preview mode I believe so.

John, Wrong way, I created the first test file on the iPad, not on the Mac.
There may be some issue with the file on the Mac Pro.

Can you open it, copy the contents to a new Workbook, save that and then open it on the iPad.
John, Problem solved. I saved the file with a new file name and now I can open and edit it on the iPad.

Thanks!!!

Loren
