Put your IMEI number in here to see if it shows up locked.

My phone model didn't come up so I selected "Nokia Info" ?

Then, I type IMEI number from the phone.

It's asking to pay $0.50.  After I pay, will it tell me if phone is locked or unlocked ?

You have to enter your number and see. I cannot tell from here.

Google for "tell for free from the IMEI number if the phone is locked"

I googled and entered IMEI number in few websites.  Phone model came up but no locked or unlocked information.
Find someone with a working sim from another carrier.  Borrow their sim and stick it in the phone.  That's free.

You could also just ask Verizon Support if the phone will be locked when you purchase as SIM from them.

You can get a phone unlocked at the local 5 and dime phone store if need be.
