P2V windows 2016 with virtio drivers

Im trying to setup a windows 2016 server on vultr with my own iso and license key

I have to use this guide
https://www.vultr.com/docs/windows-custom-iso-with-virtio-drivers

However, instead of a fresh install, I want to image one of the physical Dev servers and use this to quickly get going

Do you think it will be possible, and what would I need to do?

what you are wanting to do is commonly called a Physical to Virtual conversion.

As long as you restore your physical server, and then switch the hardware e.g. storage controller is commonly the cause of a BSOD. With a Stop 0x7 Inaccessible Boot Device.

I would try it, some Experts have reported this possible, because Windows OS will detect new devices at start.

Thanks Andrew

1) Is there a free software to convert my Physical to virtual? can you recommend any?

Based on this article
https://www.vultr.com/docs/requirements-for-uploading-an-os-iso-to-vultr

It says The filename must end in .iso
2) Is there a way to do P2V and save as .ISO ?

Alternatively our live servers are on windows VPS
If these have the virtuio drivers already then doing an image of these servers may work

3) However, How would i know if they are using Virtuio drivers?
in device manager in windows i see "VMware virtual disk SCSI Disk Device"
in storage controllers i see "LSI adapter, SAS 3000 series, 8-port with 1068"

Thanks

there are lots of free P2V software, BUT it must be matched to the Host system.

No.

3) However, How would i know if they are using Virtuio drivers?

That could be a VMware Hypervisor ?
