Server 2012 R2 Boot/update error

I have a windows server 2012 r2 that won't boot that had a raid disk failure earlier this morning (7/30). The server rebooted and now it is attempting to install updates. It gets to roughly 50% and then fails with the error Error C0190003. Which states that there are so many update operations being processed that the transaction log becomes full and can't finish updating. The workaround is to change the transaction log limit in CMD, but the server won't boot into safemode with CMD.  I tried Last Known Good Configuration as well and it attempted to install the updates again and failed.

Try selecting (say) 20 or so of the oldest (earliest date) updates and see if this selection will install. Does that work? and if so, go from there selecting updates until done.

I can't get the server to boot normally or into safemode. Is there a specific way you want me to select and run these updates?
Try starting with the Windows 2012 installation DVD. Put cmd.exe on a USB key. Then see if you can change the log limit that way and if it will allow you to restart.

Do you have a known good backup if you need to reinstall Server 2012?
Couldn't get CMD to run and couldn't repair server 2012. Had to move back up files to another server that was onsite.
