A stations broken stream, or some other cause for the BBC's 'Sound of Silence'. Can anyone tell

I cannot access BBC 5 Sports Extra for some programs which have broadcast restrictions. I accept that. However before I could access the channel and if the item was restricted I would be told that. Now when I try to contact BBC5 Sports Extra I get  the following:
'The sound of silence
We're trying to play this station, but we're having problems. Apologies.
The station's stream may be broken, or there may be a mis-match between this stream, and your device.
Please click here to retry'

I have tried this on other computers and laptops, but with the same result. Can anyone explain?  I have no problem in getting BBC Radio Four and other BBC radio channels.

Given that message is usually a connection issue, it is possible that the issue is on BBC's side. Just because one station is working doesn't mean all of then will.

What country are you in ? If in the UK, are you using VPN/TOR or similar ?

Although you has said " BBC 5 Sports Extra", do you mean "BBC Radio 5 Sports Extra"  ?

Are you trying to play the stream from the BBC website, or using a 3rd party client ?

Is this for live (as broadcast) or listen again ?

Am in Ireland.
I mean BBC Radio 5 Sports Extra (Test Match Special).
From the BBC Website.
For a Live Broadcast

I think I should be able to connect to the website, but instead of Test Match Special I should get an announcer saying that because of rights restrictions the program is not available. But I am not able to get this from Ireland. Instead I get an error message 'The Sound of Silence' saying that there is a problem with the connection. However I have tried this on a number of computers from Ireland and get 'The Sound of Silence' from all. Cannot be a problem with the computer.
Just now I tried to connect with BBC Radio 5 Sports Extra for some of the European Athletics broadcasts, but I got the same result. This is the error message:
"The sound of silence
We're trying to play this station, but we're having problems. Apologies.

The station's stream may be broken, or there may be a mis-match between this stream, and your device."

Please click here to retry"

I would be happy to hear the announcer  say the event cannot be broadcast because of Rights Restrictions. I accept that.  But I would like to hear it as of old
The only people that can help you with that would be the BBC, I would suggest this page http://iplayerhelp.external.bbc.co.uk/radio but I can't tell if if that page will work outside of the UK...
