Problems with low end HP LaserJets

I have had two HP Monochrome LaserJet printers in the last week do the exact same thing. The print gets noticeably lighter as it goes from left to right. The customer said that they replaced the toner twice. Didn't help. I replaced the fuser in one. It didn't help. Someone must know. What is the fix?

One was a M401DNE. The other was a 252DW. Now to badmouth HP a little. Both of these printers are just about a year and a half old. Both to very, very little printing. You had to take the entire printer apart just to replace the fuser. Not worth the time or the fuser. So it looks like HP is putting out some crap that lasts a little over a year and are made so you can't fix them. You have to throw them away and buy new. Guess what HP? Time to try a different manufacturer.........

In both cases they have used original HP Toner and they have worked flawlessly for well over a year and the driver never changed.

I am familiar with transfer rollers and what they do. The particular maintenance kit I got for the fuser did not include transfer rollers. In reading what I read back when it happened I was questioning the transfer roller. I figured when I gave the symptoms I would be inundated with responses but apparently the dark to light isn't that common?

This is case in point. No definitive answer. Could be Toner. Could be fuser. Could be transfer roller. By the time you even try one of these you are pretty much past the cost of a new printer. Maybe it is time to switch from HP. Thanks guys.
