issue with shared/resource mailbox in Exchange 2016

Hi Experts,

We recently performed a bulk migration of all shared/resource/mailboxes from Exchange 2010 to Exchange 2016, and according to migration report batch, everything was successfully migrated and no errors.

After some weeks, some of my clients are reporting errors within outlook when moving emails from their inbox to a legal corporate application.

This legal application allows people to save all their email/attachments received within the department.

The following error is listed. This particular error occurs when users are trying to move certain email, with images, from an additional mailbox account[their boss]

If this particular email was moved to their own inbox and then processed again through the legal application, the error will not show. After doing numerous test, it was determined that emails with an image within the body caused this error.

This is occurring in office 2013 and 2016 with Windows 7 and Windows 10 machines.   All users in that particular department are experiencing the issue.

Other shared/resource mailboxes and the email infrastructure is OK, no email flow issues, no other issues reported so far.

This is a common problem if you are using MS Outlook. So go to your Outlook file location and find Outlook's inbox repair tool.
These are inbox Repair tool of Outlook
ScanPST.exe (for PST file)
ScanOST.exe(for OST file) .

Now specify your PST or OST file that you want to improve. It brings files and scans for errors. Once the investigation process is complete, a window will appear with the 'Repair' button to fix the errors found.

Location of  Scanpst.exe file for Outlook 2013 :
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office 15\root\office15

Location of Scanpst.exe file for Outlook 2016 :
32-bit Windows C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office16
64-bit Windows C:\Program Files (x86) or Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office16

After find Repair tool follow these steps.
  • Double-click on Scanpst.exe or Scanost.exe .
  • Click on browse tab to locate the corrupted .pst or .ost file.
  • at last Hit the start button

[Note: Please backup the scanned file before using the Repair tool]

i hope, these tool will work for you. Otherwise your file has been completely corrupted and you needs to use any third-party tools for this.

I hope it will be helpful for you.
