Increase Size of a RAID 10 Storage Array
Hi Folks,
I'm a Server Admin albeit for a small company with a Single Gen 9 HP Prolinient Server that is Virtualized.
The storage is RAID 10 (8 x 1.2TB Drives).
Am running low on space so need to increase.. want to add another (4 x 1.2TB Drives) giving me an extra approx 4TB of space.
Looks like this is all I need to do? Start an Expand and once started I can boot up server? Do it on a Friday night probably let it go over the weekend.

Same procedure although you should be using Smart Storage Administrator rather than ACU nowadays. You get to it via F10 Intelligent Provisioning during boot. Do you have spare bays though on the same controller? You do have all the bays on the same controller if it is the 12 bay LFF model.
Adding 4 x 1.2 TB disk to RAID10 will only give you an additional 2.4TB of usable space!

Hi andyalder,
I have 24 bays.. 9 in use (1 is a hot spare).
I have about 3.5TB of data .. will add another 4 drives to incread size of RAID by about 2.4TB.. any idea how long will take for server to rebuild?

10 disk including 1 spare is obviously not RAID10
RAID10 is a Stripe of multiple mirrorsets, so disk numbers are always an even number, unless you are running in degraded mode! Hint: not a good idea.
Please give us a screen shot of your RAID management software
